When Rotary and its partners formed the GPEI in 1988, there were 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries every year. Today, we have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent. #endpolio

Rotarian Peter Bocking presents the Boys and Girls Club of Durham with a $3,000 cheque. Since 1963, the Boys and Girls Club of Durham (formerly Eastview Boys and Girls Club) has provided recreational and social development programs in Durham and has grown into one of the Region’s most established and effective youth-serving organizations. With a membership that currently exceeds 1000 children, we are pleased to provide fully equipped facilities to match our wide range of quality programs. For more information about the Boys and Girls Club of Durham please visit http://www.bgcdurham.com/.

As you may know, our board voted to create an Indigenous Service committee, a sub-committee of Community service under the leadership of Peter Bocking & Andrew Butterworth.  This committee will be exploring ways our club can serve the Indigenous Peoples of Canada though member & community education, indigenous consultation outreach, and projects... When John Currie from HIP (Honouring Indigenous People) came to our club he recommended that anyone and everyone view the television mini-series First Contact.  The videos are available here https://aptn.ca/firstcontact/video/

Congratulations to Sylvia German who won an incredible prize package of a Samsung 75” 8K UHD HDR QLED TIZEN SMART TV, Samsung 500W 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos Soundbar with wireless subwoofer and a PS4 Console Bundle, all generously donated by MTC Factory Outlet. Way to go Sylvia and THANK YOU MTC!
