Kids Against Hunger - Food Packing
Nov. 01, 2026 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Hello all.

The Kids Against Hunger food packing event involving your club and five others is coming up fast. The event will take place on the morning Sunday November 1 at the jubilee Pavillion in Oshawa.
Just a few reminders to prepare for the event.

  1. We hope you can muster at least 6 members who can set up, then participate in the packing of food.
  2. Please be on time so the "assembly lines " will be complete when it is time to start. Everyone will help clean up when the packing is complete. If everything goes as planned , we should be finished just after noon.
  3. Have FUN

This year we are dedicating this Kids Against Hunger event to the memory of  Bowmanville Rotarian Fred Mandryk. Fred passed away this past July.
Over 20 years ago Fred brought the Kids Against Hunger Program idea to our district. He organized  sessions at many clubs and at the District conferences. It is estimated that Rotarians in District 7070 have packaged more than a million meals for the needy families of the world.  Without Fred's idea and work , we probably would not be here today.

we’re a Canadian charity teaching illiterate mothers to teach neighbourhood children without access to education. Today, these mothers are teaching 7,500 children in the slums of South Asia and Africa. These children all come from illiterate families and many have even graduated with university degrees in hand.

But education is only the start of it. These mothers, having been empowered by education then set about making their communities truly worthy of the beautiful children living there in the areas of.  In fact, our mothers are almost mini-Rotarians themselves, devoting many volunteer hours every single week in community service.
